Being an advocate of the arts, I am often involved in some aspect of fund raising. Most artists (real artists) want very little, if nothing, to do with the finances involved in the presentation of the music or whatever project is in the works. Therefore, people like myself must get into the dollars and cents, as unpleasant as it may be. An associate brought up the concept of a self directed IRA that he set up to accumulate funds and then use it as collateral toward funding some projects. I told him he was talking way over anything I could understand much less comment on.
